Walt Disney World and Me

Published August 5, 2015 by christinenorris

We had an AWESOME time in Disney! Ten days of GO GO GO (and a little downtime — naps are necessary to survive in Disney!)

2015-07-16 08.08.32

I DID end up with two Vera Disney bags. What you need to know about them if you go is that NOT every store that carries them has every Disney pattern. Our first night I went to Downtown Disney, which is like a big shopping place with restaurants. We took the boat from our hotel right to it. I found some Vera there, and then later also at Epcot, but since I had already bought two, I didn’t get anymore. Getting everything we bought home was hard enough!

I got two Midnight with Mickey items, the Smartphone wristlet (I have another in a different pattern, and LOVE it!) and a Mini Hipster:

I saw the laser cut Mickey bag, but didn’t see the pink quilted one anywhere. But we were so busy, I didn’t have a chance to really look. SO MUCH to see!

Yeah, I bought pink and sparkly Minnie ears. What about it?

We also visited the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal. While we didn’t love Universal in general as much as Disney, HP was AMAZING. Best part of the park, IMO.

The dragon on top of Gringott’s breathes fire every once in awhile. And even on the ground, you can feel the heat. Awesome! I bought my own wand in Ollivanders!

And… BUTTERBEER!!!

We had a great time, the magic of Disney and Harry Potter were definitely in force. Didn’t want to come home, and now that we are we want to go back.

Have a Magical Day!

More Vera Bradley Disney bags???

Published July 10, 2015 by christinenorris

When Vera Bradley announced that it would be doing a Disney line in 2013, I was really excited! I love Disney, and I love Vera. My husband would say I have a bag addition. Well, maybe, but I need something to carry around my books in, right?

I actually got a Mousin’ Around hipster online to take on our vacation:

Which has since been retired, by the way, so I’m glad I got it. I went looking to see what else they have now. OMG, guys. There are NEW patterns!

Laser cut– not my thing, but very nice. A sophisticated, grown up Disney bag.

This one’s more my style — because it’s PINK. It comes in Black, too, though. Still, a more subtle pattern than most.

Mickey’s Perfect Petals. I don’t know about the color, but the pattern is super cute! I can’t remember if Disney Dreamin’ is new or not, but it’s also cute — almost like Mousin’ Around, but in Blue:

Midnight with Mickey and Where’s Mickey? are still around, haven’t been retired yet. I see a couple that are on sale, though, so they might be retiring this year.

I am going to Disney next week, and Downtown Disney is our first stop. Maybe I’ll come home with a new bag…. And did I mention that the new outlet mall opening near me will eventually have a Vera Bradley outlet??? Yikes, I may be in trouble!

More Vera Bradley and Disney — the secret pattern

Published August 14, 2013 by christinenorris

Okay, so I posted before about the new Vera Disney line. The patterns that are available at the parks (only! Grrr) are all over the place and my favorite is this one:

Duh, it’s pink. There is also a black one. Here are close ups:

But there’s another Disney pattern out there, and I have seen a picture. I can’t find it anywhere on the internet, and I can’t share the picture because it’s not my picture.  But it’s deep blue, with light blue and light green paisley, with Mickey head outlines in the pattern. It’s more subtle than the other two, because no Mickey or Minnie directly. But it is ADORABLE.  I have to find a picture so you can see.

I still want the pink one.

Blog Poll

Published August 13, 2013 by christinenorris

Okay, so I have been slacking. I admit it. I have spent the last few days in my basement studio, playing with clay, learning how the new oven works with the clay and what temperature to set it at so as to not burn the clay (I have thrown away quite a few items in the last few days), and working on new stuff.  I will post pics of them soon, because they are SO CUTE!

Not been blogging, and I need to catch up.  I have a list of things I COULD blog about, but I’d like to know what YOU want to see.

So, leave me a comment and let me know what kinds of things you want me to blog about. What god or goddess should be next? Do you have a business to suggest for my Geek Pick of the Week? Something cool for Media Monday? Suggest an author for me to interview for Ten Questions With…! Do you want some polymer clay and/or jewelry making tips? Publishing stuff? Writing stuff? More Vera stuff — what specifically? Another topic you want me to blog about?

Give me your suggestions!

Blogging for the audience

Published August 7, 2013 by christinenorris

I don’t have a Geek Pick of the Week this week. I know, I’m breaking all the rules this week, aren’t I? I didn’t have a chance to find one, but more than that I’m really surprised by something that happened. Last week I posted a couple of times about the new Vera Bradley Disney line of bags. I did it just because I am newly in love with VB, and because I have always liked Disney, and because in general I love pretty bags. No, really. Ask my husband. I have a bag for everything.

Those posts have gotten more views than anything else I’ve ever posted on the blog. Really. It’s crazy, but more people have found the blog by searching for Vera Bradley Disney than anything else. Which tells me that I’m obviously not blogging about the right things usually. I mean, I love my Media Mondays, and all the other features, but I guess that if I want traffic here I have to give the people what they want.

So from now on, I guess Fridays will be dedicated to something…fabulous. I’ll do some blogs about how to be a fashionista on a budget, Vera stuff, or whatever I can to figure out the magic formula for getting people to read the blog.  Maybe that means I’m selling out, I don’t know. But since it’s stuff I really do like, I guess I’m not.

See you tomorrow! Meanwhile, enjoy this picture of three of the new Vera patterns for fall. From left to right, they are : Heather, Cocoa Moss, and Lola. There are three others as well: Bittersweet. Olivia Pink (which is nice, mostly because it’s PINK), and La Neon Rose.

My favorite: Heather. It’s not pink, but it is gorgeous!

Disney-Inspired Handbags and Accessories by Vera Bradley to Bloom This Fall at Disney Parks « Disney Parks Blog

I am a Handbag Ho. I admit it. I LOVE pretty handbags. I have several, as well as innumerable totes. The lady at work who sells Thirty-One loves me, because I can always find a bag I want  NEED.

I have recently become enamored of Vera Bradley bags. I found a wallet and cosmetic bag at the thrift store last week, and I bought two bags from FB resale sites (shhh, don’t tell my husband!)

So when I saw this, my inner Handbag Ho squeed with delight. Of course I want the PINK one.

Now I just need to find a way to get them without having to go to Florida.
